Alice Lunardon is an Architect and a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Munich, at the chair of Urban Design, finalising her PhD thesis on the topic of railway stations as sustainable city promoters, their impact in cities’ sustainable development. Alice also holds two executive masters in the topics of global sustainability, environmental governance & policy making, and sustainable business (at IHEID, Geneva; and at University of Cambridge, UK). She had worked at the french railways (SNCF), where she started ideating the sustainable city promoter concept for railway stations. She then advocated the idea along European railway companies and European Institutions, which in 2022 finally created a tailored fund for the station topics, which allowed the development of the RAIL4CITIES project. The methodology developed in RAIL4CITIES for the railway stations and their surrounding areas, it is applicable both to urban infrastructures such as stations, but also to every urban space.
